Pizoler AG has joined the WWF Seafood Group
Pizoler AG has been admitted as the sixth member of the WWF Seafood Group, which gathers together companies that wish to make a contribution towards the protection of the seas.more
By joining, Pizoler AG promises neither to carry in its product line nor to offer for sale fish coming from acutely endangered stocks. For fish from greatly overfished stocks (e.g. codfish from the north-eastern Atlantic) or species which are at particular risk from overfishing because of their slow reproduction (e.g. redfish, anglerfish and orange roughy), solutions are being sought within a year. If no alternative from ecologically intact stocks can be found, the corresponding species of fish will no longer be offered for sale.
For those species which are already severely overfished, Pizoler AG is working out ecologically reasonable measures together with the WWF, which can be implemented within a year.
In addition, members will offer more fish for sale from sustainably farmed stocks and environmentally sound breeding. The WWF sees these criteria as always being fulfilled with fish certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, organically farmed fish and wild fish from domestic waters.

Thuringia thanks Liechtenstein
Around 10 years ago, the Papalina company in Apolda (Thuringia) was on the verge of bankruptcy. The Ospelt Group took it over, restructured it and put it back on its feet. Reason enough for the President of the State of Thuringia, Dieter Althaus, to receive the Ospelt family as his guests and express his thanks.more
Soon it will be 10 years since Papalina GmbH, a specialist in deep-frozen pizza in the Thuringian town of Apolda (not far from Weimar), was taken over by the Ospelt Group from Liechtenstein. The company was facing insolvency at the time, but was systematically restructured and expanded over the following few years. With a staff of around 400 and the capacity to produce one million deep-frozen pizzas daily, the Ospelt subsidiary today is one of the most modern and productive companies of its kind in Europe: for the President of the State of Thuringia, Dieter Althaus, it was an opportunity to invite the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ospelt Group, Alexander Ospelt, and the former Managing Director and founder, Herbert Ospelt, along with their wives, as well as the CEO of the Group, Jörg Asshauer, to Erfurt for a personal audience.
A good omen for the future
In the context of this visit, which took place in the middle of this week, the President of the State of Thuringia, Dieter Althaus, thanked the "friends from Liechtenstein" for their commitment and the trust that the Ospelt Group had placed in the economic future of the Free State of Thuringia 10 years ago, when it took over Papalina GmbH. Their success has boosted the fortunes of both partners. Today, deep-frozen pizzas from Apolda in Thuringia are exported to all the countries in the EU. For the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alexander Ospelt, this is a good omen for the future of the two states, especially at this critical time, when relations between Liechtenstein and Germany are subject to some serious investigations in other areas.
